Cute animal pictures

Nooo that wasn't just a cunning ruse to get you to visit my blog ... See, I managed to find a writing competition about animals.
Writers For Animals Competition, wants "True-life stories about animals who've touched people's hearts, and the people who help them. Plus fiction stories for adults and teenagers that have some kind of animal theme."  Email writersforanimals@live.co.uk for more info and submission instructions.

They want  800 - 8,000 words and winning stories will be published in a book which will be sold to raise funds for animal rescues. Closing date is March 31st 2012. There's no prize money as this is a charity fund raiser, but it's free and you can send in as many entries as you wish.

If that's not your thing, how about writing something with a musical connection - another contest in aid of a good cause. You'll need to be quick though.

Finally, here's a chance to get one of those computery tablet things.

What a brilliant competition (Writers for animals). Where do you find them all, Patsy?!
Not sure about the computery tablet thing - do computers need tablets? Do they get headaches? They certainly give headaches :-) x

Yeah like that, Alex - sort of. I think.

Kitty, I confess I didn't take these. They were taken by Gary, except the cat one and I think my cousin Brenda took that. I need a cute animal pictures photography lesson, don't I?

Good luck with it, Suzy.

They do that to me too, at times, Teresa.

I have loads of story ideas inspired by songs. Pity I never actually wrote any :-)

Aw - lovely photos! Music and songs often inspire me - shame I don't have anything suitable.

Lovely piccies. I had a cat just like that once. We called him Whisky and yes, he did have a mate called Soda.

You really are the Queen of Comp-Finding! You also know how to put in links and disguise them with a 'here'. I'm soooo impressed. Entered to win the very cool tablet thingy too. Thanks!

Write them, Sarah - you can send them to other places. (I once sold one inspired by 'Cannibal's Hymn'.)

Thanks, Rosemary. Sorry about the short notice, but only recently found out about this comp from Kitty - (ooops, sorry Kitty, I forgot to nmention that)

Maggie, you seem to pick animal names the same way as I do!

Good luck with the comp, Gail. I don't have anything yet, but might come up with something.

Thanks, Linda (If I ever see a camel, I'll be sure to take his photo for you)

Thanks, Linda - I aim to please!

That's awesome of you to share the contest links. I wouldn't have heard of them otherwise. Thanks!

That's why I post 'em, Tonja!

Do give it a go, Madeleine.

Just stumbled across this blog entry of yours, and I am seriously thinking about sending in the short story I wrote about my cat, "Lost and Found", and the children's story "How the cat lost its thumbs" my sister and I wrote together some years ago.

Lovely title, Librarian. Who wouldn't want to read that and find out what happened?

Good luck.
