I'm a twit

As part of my resolution to get to grips with geekery, I'm going to have a proper bash at twitter. To help, I've downloaded* Nicola Morgan's ebook*, Tweet Right. If you fancy trying twitter but are a bit nervous or feel you're not getting the best out of it then I recommend this book.

So far I'm tweeting about as well as this pigeon can, but I hope to get better. If you'd like to see how I'm doing, you can find me @PatsyCollins If you're on twitter please let me know so I can come and stalk you have a look at your tweets.

You can tweet, or even write, on a Macbook, so here's a chance to win one. And as I mentioned Kindle's here's a chance to get hold of one of them.

*Yep I downloaded an ebook - how's that for geekiness? I don't have a kindle (despite all the competitions to win them I keep posting) but I can read them on my laptop now I've 'got an app for that'!

BREAKING NEWS! The Harsh and the Heart anthology will be available as a FREE download from midnight* tonight for one day only. One of my stories is in there. (You can also buy it as a real book)

*Pacific time

I read Kindle books on my PC too. I'm on Twitter but I never tweet anything. Maybe I should get Nicola's book.

Oh my stars you've gone to the Dark Side.

I feel very alone now. Just me and the Sphere. Sigh.

Welcome to the world of geek! And congratulations on your first eBook download. I'm on Twitter, so will be sure I am following you.

Daren't tweet as well as blogging as I'd never have time for anything else. Don't know how you manage to fit it all in.

Happy New Year!

I downloaded Tweet Right a while ago and read it up to the point where it said you need to be on Twitter now for the next bit to make sense. Am still resisting Twitter so that was as far as I got! One day, maybe, when the government add an extra hour to every day...

I'm not on Twitter - it kind of scares me. My hubby signed up yesterday - I recommended Nicola's book to him.

I read ebooks all the time. They are nice and convenient; I always have one on my phone. Welcome to twitter! I'll have to follow you. I don't tweet too often. I have to try to do it more.

Good luck with the tweeting thing. I do it myself but am never quite sure if I know what I'm doing! I have a kindle too - oh my, I just realised I am becoming geeky. Eek!

Sarah, I don't tweet much either, but I do more now I've read the book.

Kitty, I only visit there - and you'll always have The Sphere as he doesn't have an email account so can't sign up for twitter.

Thanks, Alex.

Actually, Maggie I don't really have time for much tweeting.

Womagwriter, time is an issue I agree, but at least tweets are very short.

Annalisa, nothing scary has happened to me so far ...

Jessica, I don't think I'll ever want to read ebooks for pleasure but I do see they're convenient for lots of people.

Pat, I'm not entirely sure myself some of the time, but I'm getting a bit more confident.

I tweet as well as that pigeon, too! I'll follow you and then you can follow me if you want to. My tweets are few and far between, mainly because I can't do it from my phone - I'm guessing that's the secret to regular tweeting! I've recently discovered you can tweet from a Kindle, so if I win that competition...

Frances Garrood said...

Oh Patsy - not you too! Soon I'll be on my own. There ought to be a name (and a club)for us non-Twits...

I don't really "get" twitter yet, so although I'm on it, I've only tweeted twice or so. I guess I'm a prime candidate for reading a book on how to tweet right. I'm following you now so maybe that'll give me some clues!

Hello. Wanted to stop in and thank you for following Tales from a Motel. It's nice to see writers following.

Hurrah - good for you, Patsy! I like tweeting as we don't have to write much at a time. I'm @rosemarygemmell. Will look out for you.

Good on you Patsy. I am yet to take a deep breath and venture more into this modern technology. Mmmm one day! x

Linda, I can't tweet from my phone either - which is an excuse I'd be tempted to use even if it wasn't true.

Frances, I'll still talk to you tweetlessers.

Colleen, I don't entirely get it either, but I'm giving it a go.

Thanks, Atypical.

I'll look out for you too, Rosemary. I am starting to be able to find people.

Diane, I've only dipped a toe, not yet jumped right in.

OK, I'm stalking you now ...

I like Twitter. I've met a lot of great people on it. It's like blogging, be generous and genuine. Only in short sentences.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I'm a new follower.

Welcome to Twitter, Patsy! It would be long before you've got the hang of it :) It's positively addictive. Next time I'm on I'll find my way to you!

I have Kindle for Pc on my computer, though my first choice will always be proper books.
Happy New Year. Thanks as always for the heads up.

Patsy said...

M Pax - thanks for the advice.

Hi, Beth. Nice to see you here.

Lacey, I'm trying not to get so addicted I run out of writing time!

Patsy said...

Smap, Madeleine, we both commented at the same time - and we both prefer real books!

I don't tweet. No time for tweeting.

A man called Valance said...

Well, I tried, but it just wasn't for me. It didn't help to find my page frequently swamped out with regurgitated news items. I could have unfollowed the culprits, I suppose, but I just lost interest.

Deborah Walker said...

I'm on twitter, @deboree, but I don't use it much. Still, it's nice to have followers!

Linda G. said...

You're doing great on Twitter. Don't worry, it gets even easier the more you do it.

WritingNut said...

I still haven't joined the ranks of Twitter.. but soon!

Congratulations on your ebook download! I shall definitely check it out :)

Patsy said...

Oscar, lack of time is an issue for me too. I'm giving twitter a try, but if I don't think it's worth the time involved I can always cut back or drop it.

Cowboy, it isn't for everyone and if it didn't interest you then giving it up is sensible.

Deborah, I'll look you up.

Thanks, Linda. I am getting a bit more confident with it now.

WritingNut, it sn't really difficult - especially with Tweet Right to help.

Dan Purdue said...

Ah, you beat me to it - one of my New Year's resolutions was to give Twitter a try.

I don't really have an aim of what to achieve there, but I'll see what it can do and if there's anything of interest I'll stick with it.

I guess we'll both be stumbling around in there, apologies in advance if I knock anything over.

Dan.
