Ooops

I had a bit of a confused day yesterday. I thought I'd get a bit organised prior to NaNo and schedule a couple of posts for November. You ended up with half of yesterday's post combined with half of today's and immediately followed by all of one for next week. I'm going back to being disorganised - it'll be less confusing all round.

Anyway, happy hallowe'en!

Here's a mystery writing contest (which I can't enter) and here's a call from the BBC for short story submissions (I will be giving that one a go)

Talking of mistakes, can you spot the typo here? I really should have noticed that.

  1. Don't worry confusion is my middle name! Happy Halloween and good luck with the contest.

  2. Isn't it normal for writers to be totally disorganised then?
    Thank you for the links.

    1. It does seem to be quite a common trait, Maria.

  3. I need someone to come round and organise me! That BBC competition looks interesting, thank you! Not that I'll ever be able to get my wotsit in gear to enter! Happy Halloween x

    1. No time for organising anyone now, Teresa - I'm doing NaNo.

  4. Ooh, that BBC one looks great - will be trying that. Years ago, they had a regular slot for short stories and I submitted a few - never got far - then they dropped it. It was around the time everyone was dropping short stories, but they're definitely on the ascendancy again!

    1. Oh no! Yeah you're right - The Sphere sneaks onto my computer and messes with typing.

  6. I've never scheduled posts in advance for the very reason you've highlighted, Patsy! Thanks for the BBC link - might give that one a try. Good to see they're open to new stories at least for part of the time. Love the spider and web (it reminds me of a little poem I wrote about a spider in its web!).

    1. I've scheduled stuff before without trouble, Rosemary. It works well when I pay attention.

  7. Join the club! I was planning to rush through my weekly to-do list and tie up loose ends early so I'd be able to devote most of Thursday and Friday to NaNoWriMo, but all sorts of unexpected distractions intervened ... (Well the days are shorter now, aren't they?!)

  8. Hi Patsy .. as Linda says "join the club" .. can't spot the error though - good luck with your entries ... are you getting lots of trick or treats? Thankfully I'm missing out! Cheers Hilary

    1. Hilary, it took me a while to spot it even after Gary pointed it out. I think our brains try to make sense of what we read and ignores the rubbish people like me type.

    1. I can't claim I'm organised with that either, Alex - but I've managed today's word count.

  10. Oh dear, after having read that typo Patsy it's quite strange as I think I'm coming down with something.

    Thanks for the competition links.

Best wishes to Mavis for a speedy recovery

    1. Mavis will be fine as long as she doesn't read that magazine - she'd be horrified.

  13. Love the typo - well spell checker wouldn't pick it up, would it? Honest of you to own up too.
So timely with BBC competition - THANK YOU for this one - as I was about to research submitting short stories to R4 and you've done it for me. Definitely having a go at that one.... Cheers Patsy :)

  14. I've told myself to cut down on the comps but the BBC one looks tempting.
