Time for ... a free book?

Another month, another first Wednesday, so time for another Insecure Writer's Support Group post. So am I feeling insecure? A bit, yes. It's the novels you see. The people who've read them seem to like them (which is wonderful to hear), but there haven't been as many readers as I'd like.

I wrote the above this morning before going off to the day job. I came home to discover my publisher has decided to give away the e version of Escape to the Country for free. It'll be available to download on 4th and 5th October (and remember you don't need a kindle to read it). Hopefully this will generate lots more interest in the book!

Please, please, please, please, help me feel less insecure by downloading the book as soon as it becomes free in your area. If you read and enjoy it, please, please consider posting up a review on Amazon or Goodreads (of course you're free to review it even if you hate it, but I'm not daft enough to beg for negative reviews.)

Anything you do to help spread the word will be appreciated and rewarded with massive quantities of virtual chocolate, cake and wine - or other goodies of your choice.

Click here for the .uk version and here for the .com one.

 Thanks for your support!

  2. I know exactly how you feel about lack of readers, Patsy. I bought your book but haven't had time to read it. It's on the list, please know that!

  3. I don't think there's ever been a harder time to be a novelist, and you have my sympathies, Patsy. The recession and ebooks have made things really difficult, and unless you're a big name or a celebrity, it's a real struggle. Good luck with the free book. I am certainly interested!

    1. The combination of less spending money and so many more authors publishing now does make it difficult for a newcomer to get noticed, Frances. Hope you enjoy the book if you download it.

  4. I've read it, I own the real book, and I paid because it's worth every penny. It's on my bookshelf and I love it. You have cake on my blog Patsy.

  8. I'd love a free book - especially yours - alas, Amazon won't download any free books to me because I live in Africa (Egypt).
I'm wishing you much success though! :-D

    1. Oh that's not fair, Lexa! I didn't realise not everyone would be able to get it.

  9. As Frances say, it's a difficult time for novelists. This will probably bring your book up the list on Amazon at least. Will do a review when finished (huge TBR list)!

    1. Thanks, Teresa. My publisher emailed to say that there were about 150 in the first 3 hours. I have no idea what's usual for these promotions, but that sounds pretty good to me.
