Hunk

According to my dictionary the only meaning of the word hunk is a 'large or clumsy piece'.

That's a shame as I thought I was going to have to persuade a bunch of Royal Marines to strip off just so I could illustrate this post. Still, a hunk of cake is just as good ... isn't it?

It's not relevant in any way, but here's a link to the radio interview I did yesterday. My bit starts just over 11 minutes in.

  1. I shall have a piece of the chocolate fudge cake I made and listen to it, Patsy.

    1. Just listened to it Patsy. Are you an old hand at radio interviews? You sound like it! I didn't know about the Victory tour guiding so that was interesting.

    2. This was my fourth interview, Wendy so I'm getting the hang of it now.

    1. I wasn't relaxed, L I was nearly asleep. I had to get up at 5.30 and I'm not a morning person.

  4. Hmm. A hunk of cake is ALMOST as good...but not quite. ;)

Couldn't get your interview to play--I'll give it another try later.

    1. Linda, you were just supposed to look at those boys, not try to get them to play!

  6. Hmmm looks more like Bakewell Tart, but I'd still like a slice! Heard the interview last night - brilliant!

  8. How about watching that hunk of pie being eaten by a couple of Marine hunks? The best of both worlds! :-)

  9. I followed the Royal Marines link and almost forgot to come back and comment. I totally ignored the Bakewell Tart!! :-)

    1. Luckily for me no one can tell how long I spent 'researching' the best link to make my point, Annalisa.

  10. To be honest I'd take the cake any time. The Royal Marines I've come across think no other Service is as good as they are.

    1. They do think that, Lizy. I agree with them as it happens; the Royal Navy is the best.

Of course I could be biased.

  11. Gosh! I was wondering about all the hormones flying around in the previous comments. I went straight to the radio interview and didn't even notice the link to the Royal Marines. (Patsy - I think the interviewer (forgotten his name now. It's my age, you know!) - sounded sleepier than you did.) (Dubious punctuation in that last sentence but it is 2.54am.)

Have now looked at the marines' link and am fanning myself. Is it me, or is it hot in here?

Congrats on the competition win and the new novel, and the stories you've sold this year. I shall look forward to reading everything.

    1. Thanks, Jacula.

I thought I'd sounded like I'd just got up on the previous one (I had) so made an effort to be chirpy this time!

  13. Interestingly my Chambers Mini Dictionary (recently won as part of Best Word competition) states Hunk: a muscular, sexually attractive man. But I'll settle for a slice of cake! Is this your bakewell tart? I had a go at Mary Berry's recipe the other w/e and it turned out lovely, but didn't last long.

    1. I was using an Oxford mini, Tracy - quite an old one.

Yes, I baked the Bakewell (and did it quite well I think!)
