Rain stops procrastination

The weather has been so bad I haven't been able to get out in the garden, or otherwise find excuses not to work. As a result I've sent off some entries to competitions such as this one which could win me $150, and this one which could win me $100 and this poetry one with a $1000 prize and this one for a snazzy pen and I've had a try at winning tea with Alexander McCall Smith. There's still time for you to have a got at all of them.

(I haven't entered this one or this, but don't let that put you off having a go if you think the feedback would be useful.)

Then I made a cake. Lemon drizzle, it seemed appropriate. Do you have a weather appropriate food choice?

    1. It tastes delicious too, Linda. Well the first couple of slices did, perhaps I'd better have another to be sure?

  2. We've got snow, not rain with more forecast. That Lemon drizzle cake does sound tempting ....

    1. No snow here, Sally so maybe it's slightly warmer than where you are?

  4. We had a custard tart with garibaldi pastry at our local pub, so I re-created it at home. Delicious.

  6. You put me to shame - you accomplish so much and I haven't even worked on my measly outline for days. Ah well, some people want it more than others, and I'm just a couch potato at heart. :-)

    1. I often take the laptop down and sprawl on the sofa to write, Lexa. Does that make me a productive couch potato?

    1. I haven't drunk hot chocolate for years, Kitty. We have the right weather for that (although it is pants in every other way) so I might have to get some.

  10. Thank you for all these useful competitions - I like the look of all of them - and best of luck with your entries.
We have snow on top of all the rain this morning, which means an extra day of writing. I'm really looking forward to it, apart from coping with the cats tiddling indoors rather than getting their paws wet.
I could really do with a slice of cake.

  11. Ooh lemon drizzle cake! My cold weather choice would be chocolate pudding and custard or veggie casserole and dumplings :-) x
