It's that time of year again

Yes, it's the brief period between Christmas and Valentine's Day when we're supposed to start booking our holidays. If we don't, whole weeks could go buy without us spending huge sums and then where would we all be?

To keep in line with the world according to the advertising agencies, here's a travel writing competition and here's another one.

That gives me an excuse to post another of my holiday snaps, so it's not all bad. (In the unlikely even you've not guessed where we went, here's another clue)

  1. Egypt! Now I bet that was a fun holiday vacation.
And I refuse to get caught in the spending spree.

  3. How neat to have gotten to see that in person! No vacation for us this year. :( Ah, well. We're still super blessed! Tho I do definitely want to plan a trip to the zoo, for sure!

  5. I know what you mean my inbox has been stuffed with 'special offers' from various holiday companies! Mind you, on a day like today, the lure of the sunshine seems very appealing! Happy writing and happy 2014, Patsy.

    1. I've had a stack of brochures sent, Suzanne. If I read them all I wouldn't have time left to actually take the holiday.

  6. Funnily enough, I was just looking up French gites in the Dordogne for this year's holiday.

  7. Thanks for the links! I booked my holiday in December and had that lovely realisation this morning that it is now THIS year's holiday! Not wishing the months away, though. Lots to look forward to, I hope! Happy New Year, Patsy!

  8. My dad used to say "every day's a holiday"; he enjoyed life. I am putting off booking anything just now although I know that the prices will not reduce and my income will not increase!

  9. January is such a long, horrible month for me - it always seems to take twice as long as it ought to.

    1. It's not my favourite month either, but at least the days are getting longer all the time.

    1. It's not something I've done either, Misha but as we're allowed fiction for these I'm going to give it a try.
