Ooooooh October

October feels like a good time to write ghost stories; the nights are drawing in, the moon looks suitably mysterious with clouds, lit by its eerie glow, scudding past and trick or treat tat is doing its best to hold back the Christmas tat in the shops.

Spinetinglers are always looking for spooky stories. I know I've mentioned them before, but it's a free to enter competition which runs every month and gives cash prizes from £100 to first down to £25 for fifth (I know that as I was fifth in September's competition)

  4. I've tried Spinetinglers before but with no success. I love reading spooky stories but I'm not much good at writing them. I'm intrigued by your photo, is it just my imagination or can I see Father Christmas hiding in the corner?

    1. Linda, you made me look at the original to check - and I'm still not sure he isn't lurking. The photo is of the crypt of Rochester cathedral and was taken in the summer - but I'm not sure that helps clear up the mystery.

  5. Nice crypt setting for a ghost story - have you written it yet?

    1. I haven't written one set in a crypt yet, Lizy (although I do have a scene set in the crypy of St Paul's in one of my novels)

  7. I love October moons - I don't like the October rain clouds that block it out though!

  8. I read your story and thought it was a great read. Loved how I was kept me gripped to the end. Reminded me I have several spooky stories in draft and I'm now working again on one with a view to sending it off. Thanks for reminding me about Spinetinglers.
