#writingchat

Maria Smith and I were chatting on twitter the other day. She said there doesn't seem to be much chat about writing - just a lot of self promotion. I agree with her. There are plenty of adverts, quotes and repeatitive scheduled tweets, but very little engagement with other writers. So we've decided to see if we can do something about that.

If you'd like to join us, just log into twitter on Wednesday at 8 (in the evening, UK time) and tweet using the hashtag #writingchat. If it works out, we'll make it a regular thing. If we just end up talking to ourselves, just forget we ever thought of it, OK?

  1. You're right. I'll go looking for a conversation and find only Tweets with links but little interaction.

    1. I don't know if it's getting worse, or if I'm just noticing it more, Alex.

  2. That's the thing about social media; you have to be careful about self-promoting too much. I'm not on Twitter yet, but I plan to join sometime soon.

  3. Sounds like you need a Facebook page. They're fun to bring like-minded people together in conversation. I'll look for you on FB and send you an invite for my favorite, small-scale forum.

  6. A nice idea, Patsy. Unfortunately, I'm out every Wed for MA course but I hope it starts off something new. And is my Blackbird Bertie two-timing me? Your photo looks like his handsome double ...

    1. When Maria and I discussed this we knew whicever day we picked would be inconvenient for someone, Tracy. You (and anyone else) are welcome to join in the conversations at any other time if you'd like but we thought we'd try a set time to start with.

My blackbird is called Ben, but they could be related.

    1. That's a shame. There was never going to be a time which suited everyone.
