Aardwolf

An aardwolf is a grey and black stripy, African animal, related to hyenas. It eats insects (up to 250 termites per sitting) and is nocturnal. They're rather cute. I'm sorry I don't have a picture - next time I'm wandering the scrublands of Easterm Africa at night, I'll be sure to put that right.

I mention them because stories, amongst other things, are often listed alphabetically and being near the top can be an advantage in some situations and aardvarks have been overused for that purpose.

Three points are on offer to the first person to write a story titled, 'Adam the Aardwolf's Amazing Adventures Amongst the Agave in Aberystwyth.'

btw, it's #writing chat again tonight. The topic is genre. Do join us on twitter from 8 to 9 UK time, by tweeting using the hashtag.

I think I'll pass on that challenge this month Patsy! The photograph looks like aloe vrea on a stalk - or a yucca?

LOL! Sounds like that would be a fantastic story. Only I'd name my aardwolf "Aaron" to make sure I was ahead of whoever writes the story of Adam. ;)

Agave? That's another new word for me?

Hi Patsy - I think I could do that one ... but not during the A-Z .. Adam the Aardwolf would have to join the Zdena Zebra time! Cheers Hilary

I guess I need to publish my stories that start with "A" then. ;)

Never heard of the aardwolf. If it eats insects only, it's a friend of mine.

Great title and I'm lovin Linda's comment - really trying hard to beat Aaron - but I can't :) Being in the A category is not all that good in the good ole bookstore if the shelving is high. I am short and usually start on the F or G shelf. Hmmm... food for thought :)

They do!

It was good to 'see' you on writing chat even though the whole thing was a bit of a blur.

Yes sir!

It is - now I've done the hard bit you just need to fill in the rest.

I believe it's an agave, Lizy. Might be related to aloes, not sure about that.

You've totally got this thing sussed, Linda.

I think it's the plant in the picture, Maggie.

Perhaps 26 alliterative chapters, Hilary?

I'm not sure if it really boosts sales, Chrys - I just happened to notice severl alphabtical lists and oviously the As will get seen first on those.

I hadn't heard of them either until I reasearched this post, Oscar.

Ah - hadn't thought of that, Nicola. Good point.
