Specious means either misleadingly attractive or superficially plausible, but actually wrong.
Custard made with salt instead of sugar would add speciosity to your trifle. An example of speciousness is the specious claim that as chocolate is dervived from plants, a family sized bar of Aero counts as one of your five a day. That's only true if you choose the orange flavoured one (she adds speciously*)
*mint's a plant, so the green ones are OK too.

But the green ones aren't ripe.
Lol!

So...a mint julep is a vegetable drink. (where can I find a recipe?)
Great picture of the pineapple mint is it? I've got that in the garden and apple mint, they go nice in my smoothies. Or is that one ginger mint? I'll stop guessing as I'm a specious mint expert as you've noticed.
Oh dear, Alex - they're the ones I eat!
Sometimes I'm not absolutely sure you take me seriously, Alyson!
It's better than carrot juice, Mac!
Recipe - put mint leaves, ice and a cube of sugar in a glass. Pour in bourbon. Enjoy responsibly (as we say over here)
It is pineaplle mint, Suzy. I've lost mine (I know it's really difficult to kill mint, but somehow I managed it) Next time we meet up, can you bring a root with you, please?
What's the white stuff in the mint? It looks specious to me.
Love the orange bit!
Anna :o]
The idea of Mint Aero being one of my five a day is fun, shame it isn't. :-D
I like dark chilli chocolate - chilli is supposed to be good for your health..
It just grows that way, Oscar - a bit like reverse freckles.
I don't think I've actually eaten an orange one - I should really, now I've blogged about it, shouldn't I?
It's almost true, Carol!
Chilli is definitely a plant and it is good for - though I'm not sure how many bars of chocolate you'd need to eat to get the full benefit, Lizy.
I see, I see, part of the plant.
Yes - nothing to do with pigeons or seagulls.
