Lunching out

This travel writing competition offers £1,000, publication, lunch and a positive critique for first place. You'll need to write from 5,000 to 30,000 words and live in the UK or Ireland to enter.

I like travelling and writing. I often combine the two, but am yet to try travel writing.

Hi Patsy - not for me at the moment ... I could do with the lunch! I could do with visiting Wales and lingering ... sadly I shall stay in sunny (wet today) Eastbourne ... definitely an opportunity for someone. Cheers Hilary

You should combine them - after all you have a photographer close at hand for illustration purposes! I guess you also need time to research the places you visit, this could add a shed load of interest to your travels.

I'm surprised you haven't tried travel writing yet, Patsy. With all your experience of writing and travelling I'm sure you'd be good at it. Go on, have a go!

How can you miss them? They're huge!

Not sure the course is right for me either, Hilary - but a nice lunch and a wek lingering in Wales certainly appeal.

There would certainly be no trouble with the photos, Patrick. Maybe I should start looking into opportunities in this area.

It seems a fairly obvious thing for me to try, Linda. Don't know why I haven't.
