The journey

Here's a competition for a short story based on a journey. First prize is £300. Entrants may be of an nationality.

As you may be aware, I went on a journey recently. I took photos – want to see some? *Yes, thought you would.

*Ha! Like you have a choice!

I haven't done any interesting travels lately, so I'm out. Fine photos as usual!

I haven't enterred either, Rosemary. Actually I've hardly tried any competitions lately. I need to buck up my ideas!

Indeed it is, Mac. I walked along it for a couple of miles – there are a lot of uphill bits!

I have, Oscar. I need another excuse.

Thanks for letting us know about this contest, Patsy. Great photos! I don't quite understand this competition though. Short stories are fiction but they say this one must be true! I have a 4,000 article that I wrote about my journey back to Scotland with my mother and our sons when they were small, to rediscover our roots. Do you think that would qualify? Thanks!

I think they mean they want an anecdote or true incident rather than an article full of facts about the location, Fay. To me your journey sounds just right - but I'm not one of the judges.
