Oh Zoe!

Here's a competition to write a children's picture book. (Just write it - you don't need to draw anything).

The prize is £500, plus the opportunity to have your book published. Anyone may enter and you can submit more than one entry. I'm definitely having a go at this one.

This is Ock. Do you think he'd make a good character for a children's book?

I think Ock looks great! He seems to have musical feet... a sure fire winner!

I love his name, presuming he's a Scot?

Unsure about trying my hand at this one...have dabbled in Children's stories in a previous life. It was fun, but thinking I'm maybe too grown up now. :-) Have lost my sense of fun...oh and there's an idea for a story. Just like that!

Ock rocks

Incredibly, children's picture books are THE hardest thing to write. When I was starting out, I tried my hand at one. For about a year. With lots of children's authors to help me. Nope. No way to understand what appeals to kids. Wishing you and Ock great good luck!

Have you created Ock? He's got character already. Bound to be a winner.

Ock would make a terrific character

Musical feet would be a great attribute!

He he - I'm so inspiring that even commenting on my blog gives people story ideas!

Yep – and rolls.

I believe you about them being difficult to write, Lexa. It's often assumed that what's easy to read must be easy to write, but I know that isn't always the case.

He is, Oscar!

I have created him, Maggie - though he's not much more than a sketch and a few ideas at the moment.

I like to think so, Neil.
