Poetry for me!

I don't usually write poetry, but the entiries for this competition are allowed to be silly, so I might have a go. (Good poetry is also accepted!)

The competition is only open to British and Irish citizens. The prize is a £100 gift card. Entries open today and close on Valentine's day.

I have the perfect poem for this - except I sold it to Yours for £10 and so lost copyright. Short sighted of me. It was a guaranteed winner!
I shall just have to write another one.

I thought we had copyright to our poems that appear in YOURS Babs?
They're published mainly in the reader's letters pages, but when I queried this about one of mine that appeared in the Yours yearbook, Marion said I still held copyright.
They award a £10 gift voucher for publication of a poem.

Thanks, Sharon. I never really gave it a lot of thought. I just assumed I should treat a poem the same as I treat a story sold to Yours. But there is nothing on the letters page to say they take copyright, nor in the letter they send out with the £10 voucher. Whereas with a story you do get a postcard which specifies ‘all rights’. Bea
