Retrospection is the action of looking back or reviewing events and situations of the past, particularly those in our own lives. It also means to indulge or engage in retrospect. Eg, looking at my wedding photos provides happy periods of retrospection.
Retrospect means a a survey of past times or events, or to reflect on the past. Eg, in retrospect I'm glad I enrolled in creative writing evening classes fourteen years ago.
Oooh, the past is when castles were built! (It's almost like I plan this stuff.) Do you recognise this one? Or the handsome photographer ahead of me?
"Retrospect" is one of my favorite words. :-D
It's been a few years since I roamed around England and Scotland, so afraid I don't recognize it.
nope...but what a great place :O)
What a beautiful looking place. I don't recognise it, but that's because I've visited very few castles in the UK. In retrospect, maybe I should make more effort on my UK trips if this is what's on offer! ;)
Lovely image but I can't think where it might have been taken. Do tell us, so that we can all be wise in retrospect.
I wonder if I'll work my round to all the others, Misha?
It's possible you didn't get to this one, Alex - we have quite a lot.
It is that, Mac.
You should, Susan.
I'll give you a clue, Christine - it's in the British Isles (imagine me stressing the last word)
Retrospection can be helpful when writing nostalgia pieces, Patsy. If Isles is a clue I have to delve back to when I was a very young child but I wonder if this is Carisbrook Castle on the Isle of Wight. I remember walking the walls there and finding it very scary and also seeing a donkey working a wheel that drew water from a well if this is correct.
Lovely picture, Patsy. I like putting retrospectives in my stories, although not too much, as I would lose the plot - literally.
You are correct! It was the donkey's day off when we went, but they do still use one.
Don't want you doing that, Charlie!
I don't recognize the castle, but I'm guessing you're married to the photographer. :)
I am, Linda.
